The Beginning of New York Fashion WeekIFB Conference & Fashion's Night Out

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is in full swing. Fashion shows, presentations, after parties, dinners, meet-ups, where does it all end? Ha, who am I kidding, it never really ends.

The moment I picked up my press credentials, my life went from slightly busy to downright chaotic. Between balancing my day job in the showroom, TheFabChick, covering New York Fashion Week and pursuing other career endeavors; life has been one big ball of fashion consumption - and I dare not try to have any sort of personal life in the midst of all this.

Nonetheless, I live for all of this so here’s how I kicked off New York Fashion Week this season.I started Fashion Week with the Independent Fashion Bloggers Evolving Influence Conference. It was a day filled with gaining blogging knowledge and networking. Besides loving the segment with Bryan Boy of Bryanboy.com, here’s a very quick rundown of what I took away from the conference:

·Never blog about anything you don’t stand for –Mattias Swenson, Bloglovin.com
·Your time, your words and opinions are valuable –Phil Oh, Streetpeeper.com
·Be strict about what is worth blogging about –Yuri Lee, Lookbbok.nu
·Think of your blog as an instrument of what you want to do –Gala Darling, Galadarling.com
·Have compelling content, great photographs, and a clean personalize layout –Emily Schuman, Cupcakesandcashmere.com

In a nutshell, be yourself, find your niche, cultivate it and stick with it.

And then there was Fashion’s Night Out, the biggest soiree to jumpstart Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. What better way to celebrate the beginning of fashion week than with libations, tasty treats, a best buddy and shopping.

As The Urbane Urbanite and I took to the crowded streets of NYC, we had a blast visiting many stores participating in the festivities.

And that’s just to name a few. It definitely was an interesting night to kick off Fashion Week.
