My Fall Wardrobe Staple
The Basic Long Sleeve Tee

My fall wardrobe is nothing without a basic long sleeve tee. While doubling as a foundation for many of my looks and providing that extra layer of warmth I need during the cold months, it becomes a basic fall essential.

And let’s face it, a basic long sleeve tee looks so much better than the itchy long johns my mom used to force me to wear.

Whether in simple cotton or luxurious cashmere, I recommend adding a few in basic colors. When wearing many of this season’s knitwear styles and jackets, a simple long sleeve tee or crew neck pullover will be all you need for that extra buffer from the cold.

This basic is also great for transitioning garments from season to season. For instance, that favorite spring short or sleeveless dress can easily be made fall appropriate with the layering of a basic long sleeve tee underneath.

Here are a few basic options:

Merona $10.00 ,Gap $12.50, Zara $19.90, Oonagh $228

Every fab chick’s closet should definitely be stocked with a few basics. The long sleeve tee is one. What’s one basic garment you can’t live without?

TheFrisky
Last night The Gates on 8th Ave in NYC hosted a party to celebrate the achievements of the lifestyle site, TheFrisky.com. With launching just a little over two years in March 2008, readership has already reached 4.2 million and is continually growing. Nice! Congrats to TheFrisky.com.
TheFrisky
Let me just say fun times were had while TheFrisky.com themed drinks were flowing; despite a disgruntle bartender, the DJ played a few cool throwback joints that brought back memories, and some of my favorite fab chicks were in attendance which made for great conversation.

The unseasonably warm weather, in addition to the gloomy rain had me unsure if I wanted to be out and about, but I fell into a pair of shorts for fall, added my current over-the-knee sock obsession, added a dash of animal print with my belt for fun and called it a day.

I'm so glad I didn't skip on the festivities. Thanks to Annika of TheFrisky.com for the invite and making my hump day a great one.

Don't you just love Kailee in her turban? I thought she wore it very well! She also fell into a pair of shorts for fall. I guess Fab Chicks do think alike.

Just A Little 'Wet N Wild' on my Lips

While visiting a local Walgreens and not finding what I was frantically in search of, I stumbled on a sale for Wet N Wild’s Mega Lip Color, they were only $1.49. How about that for affordable?

I grabbed two colors.

Since I’m into plum pouts for the fall season, I decided to try a deeper and richer plum shade than the Revlon Va Va Violet that I bought a few weeks ago. Remember that? Well, 919B Vamp it Up went into my basket.

Here’s how it looks on me.

It’s definitely a much deeper plum than the Va Va Voom. The darker shade has a slight edgier feel.

I’m no stranger to a fab red lip. I have don the classic shade a few times but mostly in high-pigmented glosses. I figured I’d try out 911D Spotlight Red, a la Felicia of Thisthatbeauty.com's trade mark pout.

I think this will be my fourth red lipstick/lip color. Hey you can never have too many shades of red lip color right?

Here’s how it looks on me.

Overall I must say I’m digging the semi-matte, crème finish colors. In one stroke the color went on vibrant and pigmented. I didn’t have to apply numerous times to get an intense color and the texture felt nice on my lips. I’m guessing the use of Vitamins A & E helps with the smooth texture.

Let’s face it, the price is more than perfect for the pseudo budget I’ve put myself on.

And just for the sake of Halloween, I threw in color 11065 Black/Noir from their Fantasy Maker collection designed just for the ghoulish day.

Sidebar: Would you believe I use to walk around Brooklyn, New York with my cousin, both of us sporting black lipstick at ages 14 and 15?

After watching Mary J. Blige’s Not Gon’ Cry music video and thinking to ourselves Mary’s lips looked hot, we ran out to the beauty supply store and bought black lipstick.

Perhaps I’ll try wearing this out again. Hmmmm.

Have you tried any of the Wet N Wild Mega Last Lip Colors? What do you think of these colors I purchased?

A Shiny End to a Dull Day
I Emotionally Shopped

Hi I'm Misha and I'm an emotional shopper.

Oh wait, you guys know this about me already, so let me just cut to the chase.

After a rough workday, I needed something to brighten my day. The only thing I wanted was to either see someone I fancied or purchase something shiny and new. In this case, I relied on the latter. Shiny and new it was.

Considering I'm on a serious budget, and I do mean SERIOUS, I could not afford to go on one of my infamous emotional shopping binges.

After some quick rationalizing, I gave myself a strict budget of $30. I felt that was fair.

Where did I end up? Daffy's. I figured, eh, I never find anything in this Daffy’s so maybe I'll end up on the train ride home without a shopping bag.

Wrong.

A sucker for a shoe with laces this season, I found a pair of Devani patent leather oxford style heels in my size for a mere $29.99, suggested retail of $160. These proved perfect for my fall wardrobe. And I loved the slight masculine quality they have.

Great. You can’t beat cheap in price and cute in style. It was check out time!

Talk about a fab chick approved budget find!

pnk party
Last night was all about fun, affordable accessories, mini manicures by Ginger and Liz, cocktails and snacks with a group of accessory loving chicks in one room.
pnkparty
The ever-growing accessory company PNK Elephant Accessory hosted a style soiree to officially celebrate the launch of PNKElephant.com. The site is perfect for fab chicks that are looking to add great trendy of the moment accessories to their wardrobe without having to skip paying a few bills.

The very affordable line consists of necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets in many different styles and finishes. At prices between $5 and $30, you simply can’t beat it.
pnkparty
I’ve actually made a few purchases in the past from the company. Here’s one that I love to wear from PNK Elephant.
my bracelet
I actually encourage all to seek retailers like PNKElephant.com when purchasing super trendy pieces. As trends make their way in and out of our closets and wardrobes before we can even make it into the stores, it’s wise not spend a lot for uber-trendy objects. Plus it leaves more money to buy other things like SHOES!

I can't wait for my gifted item to arrive. There were so many cool items to choose from, it was definitely hard to make a decision. This is what I chose. Fab right?
pnkparty
Make sure to visit PNKElephant.com to check out their current selection and grab a statement piece while you’re at it. Stay tuned for their holiday collection, as I was told it’ll be shiny and filled with lots of sparkles and we all like shiny and sparkly right?

A Spring Fling on a Fall Day

One Saturday afternoon, this past spring on one of my emotional shopping sprees, I walked in Bloomingdale's, spotted a melon chiffon sleeveless dress, found my size, grabbed it, tried it on, and checked out with a few other pieces.

Spring and summer came, left and has been replaced with fall and I have yet to wear this BCBGeneration dress.

Yesterday morning I woke up with a wardrobe challenge. I ran to my closet, pulled this bright melon dress out and dared myself to wear it. Granted it's not quite fall appropriate, but in Misha's closet almost anything goes, within reason of course. So with that said, here's what I paired with my spring fling.
I knew this would require some layering and fall staples to pull it off.

I decided to pair the girlie dress with my favorite denim shirt. This shirt is super comfy and would give my dress a more casual vibe for the office.

Since the denim shirt is from the men’s department the fit is a bit loose, so I chose my favorite brown belt to stay within the casual denim vibe. The belt also allowed me to retain a feminine silhouette by cinching the waist.

I added brown heather sweater tights with a pair of dark tan lace-up booties to keep the look fall appropriate.

Rather than a jacket, I choose an ultra chunky sweater as my outerwear option.

Here’s the final look.
So with a few of my fall staples I was able to have a spring fling during a fall day. What do you we think?

I liked it!

The moment temperatures start to dip into 50 degree territory, you will never find me without a scarf around my neck. Regardless of what I’m wearing, my scarves and I become one up until spring makes it rounds again. Therefore, my fall/winter wardrobe must be stocked with cute and versatile scarf options.

Fab Chicks need options right? Well I have a pretty cool one to share with you all.

It comes from Maren Reese, wardrobe stylist to the likes of Kerry Washington, Dakota Fanning and for films like Avatar. She has used her fashion background to create her line, Letau Designs. The line primarily consists of drawstring and hooded scarves ranging in a variety of colors and fabrics.

Shopbop & Club Monaco Online Launch

Last night at the Club Monaco flagship store on W57th, Shopbop hosted a tweet-up/launch party in commemoration of their new online presence. The party allowed NYC bloggers an exclusive preview to check out the collection before the live date, which is actually today on Shopbop.com. The collection will sell exclusively on the e-Commerce site, on of my favs might I add.

You know what this means right?

For all you Internet shoppers, here's another reason to keep those credit cards out! And judging by my preview of the collection, many of us, self included are in trouble.

As an existing Club Monaco fan, I knew there would be pieces I would love like this plaid three quarter sleeve coat. Ugh! Tell me you don't love it?
In between enjoying refreshing cocktails and snacking on tasty hors d' oeuvres, bloggers tweeted their admiration for the collection. There were definitely some great pieces that would work well with my exisiting fall wardrobe.
shopbop club monaco
To test drive the new collection a bit, I jumped into the photo booth wearing a faux fur that appeared to be a well liked item during the night. Well, how do I look?
The collection definitely embodies many of the fab trends I've be obsessing over this fall from the military trend, to one of my must-have outerwear options; the shearling coat.

The mannequins also donned my obsession with over-the-knee socks. I loved the pairings with the shorts that we're seeing in many fall/winter looks! The neutral color palette was spot on for the fab chick who loves to look great without having to make a loud statement.
