I'm not the biggest fan of the fall/winter season, but when it does come around I must admit that I always look forward to wearing a lot of textures and layers. Oh! And give me a plaid shirt and a pair of rugged boots and I'm good to go! Here are my fall closet requirements. Simple.
Be sure to head over to the Hpnotiq Blog to check out and see how traditional loafers have been updated and become a must-have shoe for us Fab Chicks when we're needing to skip the height while still maintain that chic and cool factor. You can check out the full post here.
Although summer has blown by, it does not mean you can't hold on to the season a little while longer. By adding a few fall must-have accessories and basics, wearing your favorite summer dress can still be just as easy breezy when the air becomes brisk and chill.
Here are five ways I transition my summer dresses into my fall wardrobe –which makes taking advantage of those end-of-summer dress deals even more worthwhile!
·Add texture with leggings, tights and/or socks.
·Change the dress’ silhouette by adding a loose pullover for a skirt and top look, or add a contrasting leather belt
·Create layers with a t-shirt, long sleeved Henley, pullover, or cardigan under and/or over in a basic color different than the dress’ color.
·Skip the sandals and opt for chunky booties, or high boots
·Accessorize with fall in mind; scarves, beanies, leather bags
New York Fashion Week has come and gone. And as I prepare my mind, body and wardrobe for the fall/winter weather, I can't help but wish the spring/summer season lingered around just a little while longer. Since there's no stopping fall, here's 20 of my favorite looks from the runways that will provide inspiration for my Spring 2012.
Over the weekend I wasn't in the best of moods. But without diving too much into my personal life, let's just say that I've learned a thing or two about the importance of communication.
Sometimes everyday life just doesn't fit in a crossbody bag, much less a clutch. And there are times when your favorite "It" bag just doesn't cut it and your everyday carrying needs require a bit of assistance. You need more room for flats, an extra cardigan, bulky gadgets, all the magazines you need to catch up on while commuting between work, appointments and happy hour with friends. And let's not forget how many of us like to carry the kitchen sink and everything underneath. But not me though, I am exempt from that madness. *winks* But sometimes life requires a simple heavy duty tote where you won't have to sacrafice your fab-ness.
No white after Labor Day? Yeah, WHATEVER! Let's all agree that breaking this very rule can create some fab chick approved results. Sometimes traditions need to be broken to make room for new ones.
Here are 6 simple tips to help you wear your white after Labor Day successfully:
1. Wear white garments that are of a heavier weight; stay away from linen and lightweight fabrics.
2. Keep details on your white garment to a minimum, refrain from eyelet and lace detailing.
3. Incorporate heavy fabrics/textures in your look like leather, suede, wool, etc.
4. Don't be afraid to pair with darker hues and colors; brown, plum, green, shades of gray, etc.
5. Pair with obvious fall-like items; trench coat, utility jacket, cardigans, etc.
6. Put away summer shoes and wear your white with fall/winter-like footwear; leather oxfords and boots.
So when you finally decide to put away your spring/summer garments for your fall/winter wears, keep those whites out a little bit longer. There's still more fab-ness to be had out of them.
