Fab Chick Trend Alert:
Get In His jeans

One of the hottest denim trends since last season has been the boyfriend jean. Fab chicks were raiding their guy's closets and wearing their denims. They were belted, slung low and rolled up at the leg to create a wearable fit. But retailers have since created a denim cut that's made to look like they were taken right from your guy's closet without the overly excessive bagginess that wearing a man's pant could create. Imagine your guy's waist a 38" and you're a size 0. No good! That would take the look way into sloppy territory, thus creating a look that's Not Fab! Guys wouldn't even need to ask if there's any more room in those jeans.
Despite the trend not being embraced by everyone, runways have shown that it's definitely a denim trend that is here to stay for awhile. Although not for everyone, the boyfriend jean is a cut that many different body types can pull off comfortably when worn correctly. Because it is a style that should sit low on the hips, it works well on both curvy and straight boyish figures. Height also isn't a major factor as the jean should be cuffed according to your height proportions.

Here are a few brands from different price points that we like:

There are some factors to consider when wearing this trend. The key to pulling off the boyfriend jean is to keep the rest of the look feminine in some way. Whether it's the cut of the jacket you wear, i.e a shrunken blazer, or adding feminie frilly tops and accessories the important thing is to balance the volume of the loose
fitting jeans with a more body conscious or streamlined top.
Let's not forget the shoes. Footwear is a very important component to pulling off the trend successfully. For instance, this past spring/summer, the trend was worn with gladiators, and chunky platform sandals. As the weather is changing and the temperature becomes cooler, try pairing your boyfriend jeans with boots and booties of different colors and textures.

So don't put away those boyfriend jeans you bought last season or borrowed from your man. Keep wearing them. And if you wanted a pair and didn't buy them because you felt it was a fly by night fad, we give you the go ahead to go on and pick up a pair. Hey, we look better in them than the guys anyway!
