All Fashioned Out

Fashion week is a very exciting time for those who live, breathe, and sleep fashion. If you're a lover for the art form you must can agree that it's a great time of the year beside Christmas and birthdays. It's one of, if not the most important time in the fashion industry. Many who have gotten the chance to experience going to Bryant Park for the festivities can tell you just how exciting it can be. Well we have our memories of our first fashion week experience, so we decided to hear from a fellow fashion lover. LenaLo, our guest Fab Chick tells us about her real first New York Fashion Week experience.
The weather in New York over the past seven days has been less than warm and sunny. I jumped head first into the Spring/Summer 2010 frenzy, keeping a close eye on all of the makeup, fashion and accessory trends worn by both models and celebrities this fashion week.

Excuse me while I try to unravel from the fashion week spiral, clearly the adrenaline is still pumping through my veins as I blog! It’s been a rather fabulous experience. Viewing photos do not compare to the pumping music, bright lights and posh atmosphere fashion shows posses. Turn on some Lady Gaga while reading this post to get the full effect of the energy :-)

Many designers chose to keep the makeup as refined as possible. Some makeup trends included strong brows and pale lips. And if you are anything like me, you love a strong brow. These makeup trends are so natural and wearable that even if you don't have a team of make-up artists to go to work on your face every morning you can achieve the look yourself.

EDGY

Edgy Asymmetrical designs seem to still be lingering from this current season into SS2010. Edgy looks such as leather and exposed zippers were popping up everywhere from Micheal Kors to Nicole Miller.

BRIGHTS

Now, lets talk COLOR! Almost every collection had a pop of color but none glamorized vibrant neons quite like BCBG, Tibi and Nanette Lepore. The color combination used in Lepore’s collection had my eyes engaged in every movement of the fabric, while Tibi’s color pallets were simply perfection.

ROMANCE

Romantic chiffon, soft feathers, and beautiful floral prints are in full bloom. 3.1 Phillip Lim dresses were very wearable with great details like organza overlays, pleats and embellishments. Willow showcased strong shoulders, flowing chiffon and beautiful silhouettes, which had me ready to leave my wallet right at the foot of the runway. I wanted every single piece to be in my closet!

Whats almost as good as viewing a designer's collection? Mingling with editors, journalists and other taste-makers at fashion week driven events of course! The exclusivity of the celebrity attended events are amazing. My overseas friends in town for the fashion festivities only complimented my week. Partying with models for Fashion’s Night Out 09’ was a great way to kick off the opening night of this event. This week has been filled with very late nights of after parties then trying so very hard to get to the tents by 10 to catch the early shows. I learned my lesson and skipped the after parties last night to make sure I have more than enough energy to engage in the final day of fashion week.

Though I had personal invitations to a few shows, I wouldn't have enjoyed this experience so much without my fashion blogger, photographer and stylist friends who have been looking out for little ol' me and keeping me well connected. Thanks guys!

Until next fashion week, take care & stay fab.
