Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
What Misha Thought of Spring 2011 Part 2

Just as promised, here's part two of what I thought of a few collections that showed during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Did you happen to miss part one? Not to worry, check it out here.

Marc Jacobs
From shade of cinnamon, mulberry, mustard to promegranite, everything that went down the runway at Marc Jacob’s spring 2011 show was yummy. From the rich colors to the show stopping silhouettes, this collection was a fav for me. It had a 70’s fantasy factor that’s very wearable. Loved it!

Tory Burch
I’ve never been completely sold on a Tory Burch collection, although I did like the last one. But Spring 2011 has made me a fan. The gold sequined trouser paired with the Aztec-like pullover was an unexpected pairing that I loved and would definitely wear! There were a few retro styles that I could have done without, but a well-rounded collection nonetheless for the average contemporary shopper. I appreciated the mature vibe that was injected in some instances of the collection.

cynthia steffe
Cynthia Steffe’s Spring 2011 collection displayed simple, wearable pieces that would allow for women of all ages to put together chic, sporty outfits. Both mom and daughter could shop this collection with ease and without either one looking as if they were wearing each other’s clothing. I loved the color palette; my eyes particularly enjoyed the boldness of the jade hue in the collection. The belted waist detail seemed to be a pattern in many of the looks, some I thought a little unnecessary, but overall done well.

I always love to see what Gwen Stefani has in store for LAMB. If there’s one thing you can bank on with her collections, it’s that it will be synonymous with her aesthetic and style. The Spring 2011 collection continues to have Gwen stamped all over it like a worn out passport from around the world, of which many of her prints seem to come from. Although made popular last year, L.A.M.B. ‘s spring 2011 collection showed that we’ll still be head over heels again for tribal prints next spring. I loved the fun and eclectic vibe of the collection, perhaps because there were some remnants of my Caribbean roots.

Marc by Marc Jacobs
Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 completely picked up where the Fall 2010 collection left off. Fall was utility inspired, while spring seems to be taking a more retro nautical feel. I liked it. My favorite piece would have to be the bright sunny yellow dress. You can always count on Marc by Marc Jacobs to give you what I like to call fun and easy “play clothes”.

Milly
Milly’s Spring 2011 collection is perfect for strolling the Upper Eastside. For those of us that are a little more downtown, like myself, adding a few of these Milly pieces would definitely give you that polished look for Spring. A lot of the looks were very office friendly, yet appropriate enough to add a sky-high heel for a charity fundraiser after. Along with the vivid color palette and print mixture, I loved the accessory and wardrobe pairing; statement necklaces live for yet another season. Yes!

Malandrino
Not particularly vibrant in color, Malandrino’s Spring 2011 detailed orientated collection still managed to catch my eye, making me want a closer look at the garments’ construction. Whether a fan or not of the collection, the art lover in me made me appreciate many of the pieces. I loved the crochet detailing. The excess harem pants in the collection, I could have done without, but I was a big fan of the wide leg trousers in a few of the looks.

There were more collections I commented on, but we'll stop here. So, until next time, keep it logged to TheFabChick for all the fab chick happenings.
