The Fab Chick's Spring Favorites

It’s Spring guys! Yay! Flowers are blooming, birds are chirping, temperatures are rising, slowly, but they are, more skin is showing, and Misha loves every bit of it - except the dreaded bouts with allergies. Ugh. But with my roots embedded deeply in the Caribbean, it’s no wonder I get excited and happy when warm weather comes around.

With my love for warm weather comes my infatuation with a few spring trends and items that become staples in my closet. Check out what this Fab Chick has been going crazy over this season.

Spring should be about feeling happy, but if there were one way for me to have the blues, it would definitely have to be with denim and chambray.

Already a lover of jeans, I’m loving all of the lighter washes for Spring. I’m also fond of the distressed treatments that have been popularly used; great elements to add to your look for a bit of an edgier appearance. We all could use a bit of a tough girl edge every now and then.

When it comes to chambray shirts, I just can’t get enough. I’ve purchased quite a few this season thus far and I've been living in them.

Here are a few denim and chambray items I love:

Slendid $148, Nanette Lepore $248, 7 for All Mankind $198, DSquared2 $495

I’m not in the army now, but with the latest utilitarian trend I might just want to head over to the nearest recruiting office to sign up. Okay. Not really. But I am currently obsessed with many of the military inspired looks for this season. I’ve noticed a lot of army green pieces in my wardrobe that I absolutely love, which is a shock for me as I’m usually drawn to brighter and vibrant shades.

My favorite piece this season is my utility jacket purchased at The Gap. I mostly pair my jacket with jeans or a feminine dress for a nice contrast to the hard edginess of the military style and color.

Here are a few utilitarian inspired items I love:

Free People $128, Gap $84.00, Alexander McQueen $1295, DSquared2 $559

I love my legs and any chance I get to show them off, I’m doing just that, especially with the warmer weather. This spring, minis are all the rage in a variety of silhouettes. My favorite this season is a body con mini. I'm in love with my BCBG turquoise bandage mini. It fits like a glove and makes me feel uber-sexy. It’s an easy – go-to piece when heading out for cocktails with my girls, or maybe a last minute date perhaps.

Here are a few minis’ I’m in love with:

Herve Leger $553, M Missoni $375 Three Dots $86 Marc by Marc Jacobs $198

Who would have thought that a Fab Chick would love to wear a basic grey tee as much as I do? I live in mine. I'm especially loving the boyfriend style. Granted, there’s no boyfriend around, so there’s no borrowing his t-shirts; therefore I’ve been buying them in bulks of 3’s. When it comes to simple pieces as t-shirts, I say buy them in bulks. Target has a great version for a mere $8, can’t beat that.

I love a super comfy tee shirt that can be pulled together with a variety of looks. For instance, under a chic jacket for a bit of a polished take or with a feminine flirty mini for a girlie approach. The tee is definitely a staple in my closet for spring.

Many designers have created sub-divisions under their brands like T by Alexander Wang, and Oonagh by Nanette Lepore offering great lux t-shirt styles. And of course there’s the ever so popular American Apparel, which is the go-to for many when it comes to purchasing tees.

This season we’re seeing them in the very trendy stripes as well for a bit of a nautical take.

The key for me is to always pump up my look with a sleek blazer/jacket with bold accessories for that cool downtown chick look.

Here are a few tees’ I’m in love with:

Nation Ltd. $86, James Perse $41, Oonagh by Nanette Lepore $68, T by Alexander Wang $76

Anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE color! I can’t get enough. In my wardrobe, color is a staple and a must have, from my clothing to accessory choices. Even when I'm monotone in black and gray, which isn’t often, this Fab Chick needs a jolt of color.

This season I’m in love with acid yellow. I guess I’m tripping on acid yellow.

We’ve seen quiet a bit of this mega vibrant shade of yellow on the runways this spring. Make sure to check out my full recap and trend alert: “Tripping on Acid” for the scoop on this fluorescent hue.

Here are a few acid yellow items I’m in love with:

Laila Azhar $385, White + Warren $175, American Apparel $29, Elizabeth & James $354

Prints are all the rave this season. Dresses are showing up in polka dots, tribal inspired Ikats and bold digital graphics just to name a few. I must say, I love just about every one of them but I'm more drawn to abstract prints. It’s a great way to let my personal style shine through with boldness and of course color.

Here are a few printed dresses I’m in love with:

French Connection $126.82, Carmen Marc Valvo $595, Tory Burch $350, Nicole Miller $290

Now that you’ve caught a tiny glimpse of what spring trends and items I’m in love with, how’s you Spring wardrobe holding up? What are some of your favorite trends and items for the season?

I'm definitely feeling the bandage minis and print dresses also. I would have to add rompers/jumpsuits to my list to make it complete. Great post.
