Get the Look of Louboutin
Splurge vs Steal

One of this season's hottest shoe is the Christian Louboutin 'Nitoinimoi' Bandage bootie. These have been seen on the likes of Fab Chicks Keri Hilson, and Audrina Partridge as they step in style. So will you be throwing on a pair of these fab Louboutins?

If spending $1200+ is too much for you, get a comparable look with a pair of Boutique 9's 'Siaka' for a mere $225. These are definitely a steal in comparison to the Louboutins. Who doesn't love a look for less?

Fab Chick: Holiday Party, Party, Party
What are you wearing?

The Christmas lights are up shiny bright, and Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" is on repeat in the stores. That could only mean one thing, the holiday season has officially rolled around. After the turkey has been carved, it's time to prepare for gift giving and champagne popping. Which means that all you Fab Chicks out there better get those holiday wardrobes ready. It's party time!

Where will you be heading? Perhaps the mandatory office holiday party where you'll have to schmooze it up with your boss. Or maybe the cocktail shindig the guy you're dating invited you to, to show you off to his colleagues and friends. And we must not forget the champagne popping night of New Years Eve where you and your girls head to the club to party to Prince's 1999.

Where ever you end up celebrating the holidays, one thing's for sure is, you have to be FAB!

For the office parties we recommend keeping with your usual corporate demeanor and dress. You don't want to stand out amongst you peers in the wrong way. Try pairing your regular suiting with a camisole that sparkles or in a vibrate color. The key to vamping up your everyday suit is how you accessorize. Shoes are key! Allow you shoes and accessories to really take your regular day look up a few notches.

Cocktail parties are great for bringing out that cute little sparkly number you've been dying to wear. It's best to choose a length that is appropriate. Too short will have you looking like you are ready to work the corner, and too long can make you look dowdy and matronly. Two description you definitely don't want. A mid-thigh length will have your guy complimenting how sexy you look all night without his friends wondering what strip joint he picked you up from. Keep in mind the weather during this time of the year. We recommend adding a cute jacket or blazer that works well with you dress. Feel free to add tights. Tights when worn with short skirts and dress create a slimming effect and can elongate you.

So as you prepare to 'shake what your momma gave you' to ring in the new year, comfort maybe something you want to consider. If your not in the mood to wear a dress as you might have to stand in long lines outside in the cold, we suggest wearing leggings or a skinny jean. These options will provide you with a little more warmth as you await club entrance. Pair your jeans with a festive top that glitters and shines. And for that rocker chic look, add a leather jacket and booties. Layer on the accessories. Grab a cute bag or clutch and you're ready to go party, party, party!

Stay tuned for our holiday make-up run down with Mac make-up artist Jihanne as she gives us a few tips on how to get out day looks night time ready.

Fab Chick: Honey Mag Interviews Amerie
What is it about her?

"It's this one thing" that just makes us adore Amerie. What it is, we haven't quite put our fingers on yet.

When it comes to controversial artists, Amerie's name is usually no where on that list. Aside from seeing her front row at fashion shows looking fab or making appearances to promote her album, she manages to keep her name clean. If you are wondering who the 30 year old is dating these days, you might want to focus on something else. It doesn't look like she'll be giving up that info any time soon. She prefers to keep quiet about her personal life. And rightfully so, who could blame her in today's social media overload.

The singer recently released her fourth album, "In Love & War" under her own label. Who knew the Fab Chick was boss lady for her own label under Def Jam called Feenix Rising. You just got to love a Fab Chicks on the grind and Amerie is definitely showing signs of that! Honey Mag recently did an awesome photo shoot and interviewed the lovely singer. Head over to Honey Mag for the full interview as she discusses keeping her personal life private, her new album, and keeping in touch with her fans on twitter. Here's a snippet of that interview.

Amerie on relationships:
I think in general I’ve always pretty much had a good handle on what’s going on in a relationship. I’ve always trusted my intuition and I’ve always known that my intuition is right. Now whether I decide to go with that or not is a different story. But I always knew, and I tell women this all the time, intuition will never lead you astray. Never. We have it for a reason. But we choose to try and turn it down or try and turn it off. And that’s something that I’ve always known but it wasn’t until I got a little older that I learned to just listen to that, because I think we all hear it. Women, we always know what’s going on. Whether we choose to act on that is a different story. But I’ve just learned to just go with it. And that’s something I’ve definitely learned over time. If every woman would just go with it, we’d be so much better off. We all have a sixth sense. That’s why men think we’re so crafty sometimes but it’s like “Honey, its not that we are but we just don’t put it all on the table.” No guy can match that.
Amerie on doing what she loves:
This is what I do, because I love entertainment and I love to be creative. I love making music. It allows me to be creative whether it’s through producing or whether it’s through writing because I write as well. But, you know, I just want to be seen as being creative but I also want to continue to love what I do. So for me, I always made a decision early on that I wouldn’t try to forget who I really am, that I wouldn’t try to just lose myself in everything. I’m not into secret marriages or big relationships for press and all those things. I’m into just doing me, being me and creating my music. And that’s it. People happen to take a picture of me walking around, that’s cool. None of those things bother me. As long as I don’t lose my sense of what’s real. Whatever that means, as long as I have my own sense of me then everything can just be put into perspective.

Fab Chick: Alicia Keys Debuts New Jewelry Line

A few weeks ago we told you about a new business venture Fab Chick Alicia Keys was taking on. She's set to launch a jewelry line with partner jewelry designer Gisèle Theriault. The line will be filled with bold sterling silver pieces incorporating exotic stones. Each piece will be engraved with words of a prayer or poem written by Masaru Emoto. The multi award winning singer will debut the collection titled "The Barber's Daughter" in NYC at Collette Blanchard Gallery next Monday. The line is set to hit retail next fall, 2010.

This is what she had to say about the line:
“I fell in love with the individuality of the pieces, but more than that, the words that were written on them really resonated with the songwriter in me,” said Keys. “I knew at that moment, for the first time, that through a whole other medium I would be able to spread inspiration and that’s what got me started.”

Keys said her mission is “to give people beautiful, unique pieces with messages that ignite them to find the best within” and that she has long wanted to get involved in accessories.

“Jewelry is a great first step,” said Keys, who recently started AK Worldwide, a company that will focus on her non musical endeavors. “I think accessories are exceptional, because it is a simple way for people to express their own style.”

Fab Chick: Keep Warm, but look Cool
What Coat Styles are for you?

The cool is finally here. So before the hawk comes be prepared and do it in style. Just because the temperature drops, doesn't mean you shouldn't stay looking hot. If you haven't made that outwear purchase yet, there's still time to grab that perfect coat for this season. What style is for you?

Winter is all about letting your outwear express your inner personality and individual style. The days of wearing a boring black wool coat for every occasion are over. Don't get us wrong. There's nothing wrong with a basic black wool coat. In fact basics are good. Something classic is always needed in a Fab Chick's wardrobe. But in addition to that classic black wool coat, we recommend having a couple other styles and colors as well. No need to have 20 different coats, but an average of 3 will offer your wardrobe a bit of sensible variety.

Here are a few Fall/Winter 09 runway versions of some great coat styles and options to consider when choosing a coat:

L to R: Roland Mouret, Versace, Moschino

Color is always fun. Having a coat in a color is very playful and a great way to stand out amongst the crowd. It's definitely a cool way to add some vibrancy to your wardrobe.

Fab Tip: You don't need to match your coat with your clothing underneath. You don't want the color of your coat to fight with your outfit. Allow the coat in your color choice to stand out on it's own.
Many tend to shy away from this silhouette. We always hear, how do you wear a short sleeved coat? Simple. You purchase a great pair of opera length gloves, for this season go with a leather pair for that extra luxe look. You can also wear a chunky knit sweater under for extra warmth.

L to R: Issa, Marc Marc Jacobs, Alberta Ferretti

Just as color offers a bit of fun to your outwear choices, patterns will give you the same effect. Patterns also allow you to incorporate a few colors at a time. Go for a bold pattern or print this winter. Boring won't be a word to describe your coat.

Fab Tip: When it comes to patterns, try not to over do it. Refrain from wearing bottoms like skirts and pants with big patterns. If you do choose to wear an all over patterned look, keep the design simple and minimal. Just like wearing a bold color, allow for the patterned coat to stand out on its own. Unless you are feeling risky and can successfully pull off pattern/print mixing in the likes of Peter Som, we suggest keeping it simple! So on the safe side, leave the bold pattern mingling to the pros.

L to R: Junya Watanabe, Akris, Iceberg

Puffers are great for temperatures that are nearing below zero. When the elements begin to beat down on you and you need that extra warmth and protection, Puffers are perfect. Designers are creating looks for you to be ski slope chic daily. Every Fab Chick should own a variation of this style for those extra cold days in the snow.

Fab Tip: Invest in a Puffer that is insulated or downed so the primary function remains keeping you warm, unless your wearing strictly for fashion purposes. If so, it would be smart to purchase one that satisfies both of those needs.

L to R:Cynthia Steffe, The Gap, Y-3

Sporty coats are for those casual days when you don't want to necessarily wear a Puffer but still be comfortable and relaxed in your jeans or leggings with sneakers or more casual footwear. Puffers can also fall under this category as well as they are typically a casual based coat. Sporty coats provide ease and comfort in the colds months.

L to R: Cynthia Steffe, Marc Marc Jacobs, Dries Van Noten

Textures come in a wide range of fabrications. Textured coats are fun and bring a plush feeling to your outwear needs.

L to R: Sonia Rykiel, Hermes, J. Mendel

Trim offers a way to add another element of surprise or wow factor to your coat. A coat with trim will allow you to incorporate color and texture if you are afraid of an all over look. Many times you will find trims on the hood, cuff, or around the bottom hem of a coat. It's another fun element to think about when purchasing a coat.

Fab Tip: If you love trims but find yourself unable to commit to one, try finding a coat with detachable trims. Having the option to remove a fur collar or hood will bring some versatility to you coat.

L to R: Moschino. 3.1 Phillip Lim, Tommy Hilfiger

This coat is definitely a must have. Every Fab Chick should own a basic style coat. Whether it's in the form of a pea, trench, or car coat, a basic coat will take you many places and still keep you appropriately dressed.

Fab Tip: When purchasing your basic coat, we suggest going with a muted more subdued color, i.e. black, navy, brown. These colors will provide a more basic feel and allow for you to wear with a range of looks. Depending on your profession, it might not be suitable to walk into your office or an interview with a bright pink coat.

We love Mackage. This brand is a great moderate priced retailer that provides many different of the moment cuts and classic silhouettes. You can purchase their coats online or in major department stores. If you are looking for something more budget friendly, The Gap, Banana Republic, J. Crew, Ann Taylor are all some great retail options that provide a variety of styles and color for your specific style needs.

Keep it Fab and warm chicks.

Parallel Worlds...Get The Look!
Stella McCartney vs Jeffrey Campbell

We all loved the Stella McCartney Perforated thigh-high boots that both Rihanna and Melody Thorton fabulously wore. They retailed for a splurging $1,595. For some of you Fab Chicks on a strict budget, this is not on the list of must haves. Luckily for you all, keeping it fab doesn't always have to mean blowing your payhecks. Jeffrey Campbell offers a very similar style for a mere $175. Talk about parallel worlds. Now if that's not a steal we don't know what is.

Fab Chick: Leona Lewis
ASICS Album Celebration

Leona Lewis celebrated her album release "Echo" last night in West Hollywood, California. The ASICS sponsored celebration brought out fellow Fab Chicks like Ciara and Eve to party it up with the songstress.

The UK singer looked great in a purple form fitting dress, with corset belt. Although not completely thrilled with her shoe choice, it did bring a bit of edge to the look. We love Ciara's look. It's all about the mini dress these days and she definitely pulled this LBD (little black dress) off. The detailing around the arm took the simple dress to that Fab factor. Check out more pics.

Ask The Fab Chick!!

Since launching our new feature 'Ask The Fab Chick' this weekend, reader Tianja sent in pictures asking for a little style advice. She recently purchased a dress hoping to wear it for her New Years Eve festivities. Unsure as what to wear on her feet, she asked us if high boots would be a Fab option and if not, what would be some great recessionista choices.
Well Tianja, we understand wanting to look Fab and wanting to do it all on a budget. No point in breaking the bank to look good and not be able to enjoy yourself when out. So we are definitely here to help solve your style problem. We must say that we don't feel high boots would be a Fab option. We think you should go with a pump, or even something with bold straps. A great pump with a stacked heel or sequins embellishments will make your dress more festive and punch up the glamour factor a bit. If you really are wanting to wear a boot, we say go with a pair of booties instead. There are tons of great peep toe bootie options this season that will satisfy your wanting to wear boots and still allow you to maintain a chic look all under a budget.

Here are a few options that will work for under $100:
We hope we were able to help. Let us know how the outfit turns out. Keep it Fab chick.

So all you Fab Chicks out there who may need a little style or fashion advice, send in your inquires with photo if necessary to askus@thefabchick.com.
